Property restrictions in the Euro Zone have recently been lifted making property ownership even more desirable, and the banking services in Cyprus are all in line with EU regulations making it a high-standard system offering a great service. If you are an employee, you are protected by the EU employment regulations in addition to the already high standard of the Cyprus regulations. If you are an Investor, you are protected by EU regulations as well.

Healthcare in Cyprus is cheap and effective and is another reason many expats relocate to the island. There are basically two parts of the healthcare system, public and private. Public is cheap and subsidised while private is not cheap but still affordable.

Both state-funded and private Hospitals can be found in all major cities and most Doctors here have been trained in major international Universities.

Every resident of the Island is a member of the public healthcare system (GHS) which covers most cases. A wide range of private healthcare insurance is available if further options are required from local and international insurance companies.

Pharmacies can be found all across the island and night pharmacies in the cities can be contacted 24h a day.

Cyprus is one of the safest European countries to live in and tops the charts being amongst the top 5 safest countries in the world and stands out as the safest country for young people out of 184 countries according to the data published by the World Health Organization (WHO). The crime rate across this island is very low, with the occasional report of petty theft as is the case in other cities as well. However, travellers are advised to keep their passports, money, and valuables in a safe place. Female travellers should apply the usual precautionary measures that they would in any other foreign country.

This island is a great place to raise children. Kids can play outdoors without their parents having to worry about them. Of course, adults should keep an eye on their little ones to prevent any accidents and injuries.

As a country, formerly under British rule until 1960, English is widely spoken on the island with around 75% of the local population being able to communicate in English fluently, whilst the business community as well as the public sector, have widely adopted the use of the English language. However, if you make an effort to speak greek it will be greatly appreciated by your local community.
